SUBJECT: Decisive victory in Joint Judiciary Committee

Today, March 15, medical marijuana bill H.B. 5355 passed through the Joint Judiciary Committee by a 24-15 vote. This decisive victory shows the tremendous momentum of the medical marijuana issue in Connecticut: Last year, this same committee passed medical marijuana bill H.B. 5100 by a 21-18 vote.

If your legislators were on the Joint Judiciary Committee and you contacted them in support of this bill, thank you -- your activism was
an integral part of this win. 

H.B. 5355 now goes to the floor of the House, where it will likely be referred to the Joint Public Health Committee. Last April, the Joint Public Health Committee passed H.B. 5100 by a 12-7 vote.

Last week, MPP began a letter-to-the-editor (LTE) campaign in Connecticut. We still need more volunteers to write and sign letters,
and we're ready to guide you through the process. Letters directly to legislators -- as many of you have sent through MPP's Web site -- are integral to the lobbying process, but when your representative and senator see your letter in the newspaper, the effect is even greater. Through LTEs, you can make a real difference, generate both public and legislative support, and even get your name in the paper. And it will take only a few minutes of your time. So please e-mail larry@mpp.org today, and we'll get you started or answer any questions about LTEs that you may have.
